(Due to our Thanksgiving deadlines, today's column was actually written Wednesday. The online version has been modified to reflect that, unfortunately, some plans -- even on Thanksgiving -- go awry.) Yesterday, I was supposed to celebrate Thanksgiving fairly quietly with my mother and one of my sisters at the home they share in Columbia just shy of Irmo. I was supposed to spend a little time at their house and then have lunch at Lizard’s Thicket, one of the few restaurants open on Thanksgiving Day that actually serves Thanksgiving-type food for a reasonable price.
