There may not be a more respected person in all of Kershaw County than Billy Ammons. When Ammons retired as the head football coach and athletic director at Camden High School following the 1997-98 academic year to enter into academic administration, he left his position on the football sidelines as the winningest head coach in the history of the Bulldogs’ program with 178 wins. Included among the victories which he amassed in his 27 seasons as the head coach of his alma mater were leading the 1990 Bulldogs to a perfect 15-0 season capped by winning the AAA state championship.
