Editorial: KCSO bloodhounds

Since the beginning of the year, we have reported a number of instances when Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) bloodhounds have been called in to help find suspects on the run and -- as we reported in recent days -- a missing elderly man in Cassatt. In mid-January, the KCSO’s bloodhound team assisted 15 deputies in capturing Brian Jesse Smith, of Hartsville, after he led a deputy on a high speed chase into Lee County and back into Kershaw County near Bethune. In late May, the team helped track Freddie Kenneth Davis of Camden after he tested a pair of deputies’ physical fitness by running through the woods and into a creek off East DeKalb Street.
