Today, readers will notice the first of several year-in-review stories by senior writer Martin L. Cahn.

It’s a good time of year to do this; after all, we can’t move forward if we don’t know where we’ve been.

It’s nice to look back and remember some of the more interesting people and portentous moments of the year.

Every day, of course, can be an interesting and unusual one here in Kershaw County, but 2018 would see its share of triumphs and tragedies, wins and losses, poignant moments and celebratory ones.

At any rate, we hope you enjoy this annual series of glances into our collective rear view and we trust we will all gain positive insights from such an exercise, or to quote a beloved movie character, “to infinity -- and beyond.”
