Editorial: Tennis center opens

The city of Camden’s new tennis/pickleball complex is now open and operating -- and is already booking up for events. The city had touted the facility as a tourism oriented revenue generator and, thus far, that plan seems to be working, with at least a dozen tennis tournaments of various size and reach already booked starting in March, including at least one major statewide tournament, the Junior Team Tennis State Championships, to be played in July. In addition, the city is implementing a membership/fee schedule, which will include individual, family and senior tennis memberships, as well as hourly court rental rates, lessons and amenities such as ball machines available for rental.
