Absence of funeral escort complicates stressful time
Placeholder Image
I attended a funeral this week and after the coffin was closed for the last time and the family was preparing to enter, the funeral director had to announce to those in attendance to be careful to obey all traffic laws because there would be no police escort as there had been in the past. Of course, I knew that because I had read what our new sheriff has said about this service we had all been accustomed to in the past. I became somewhat distracted as I began to reflect upon all of those past administrations in our county who rendered this courtesy to the grieving families they served and lived among.
