I am a Kershaw County taxpayer, living on a fixed income. My Escrow/mortgage payment went up this year to cover for 2012 and 2013 portion of the solid waste fee, charged to county residents to dispose of solid waste, 2012 was the first year this extra $55 was added to Kershaw property taxes. As noted in “Jones targets KershawHealth at Tuesday KCC meeting” (Feb. 15, 2013), it was approved by KershawHealth to use this specific tax fund to purchase two (not just one) ambulances, and that “over the years” KershawHealth previously had not asked the county to pick up this type of expenditure.
