In discussions about residential development in and around the Historic District, we need to allow for differing opinions about architectural styles -- and about density. One would hope to honor 19th century South Carolinians with their enviable sense of beauty in their domestic architecture, a consideration that does not necessarily translate to blindly copying their buildings. Nevertheless, that influence is pervasive and important.
