Once again, the sun shown on the Price House. For one month, the Price House Commission had the privilege to run G.R.I.T.S (Girls Raised In The South), a leadership camp for 31 girls ages 6 to 13. The camp offered programs such as arts and crafts, lectures, tennis, a visit to Neptune State Water Park, as well as encouraging team building, self confidence, and friendships.
The Price House Commission personally raised the money for the camp and offered it as a way to give back to the community we value so much.
We salute each girl not just for their participation, but also for what they taught us as well. We further thank their parents and grandparents for entrusting these beautiful children to our care. We would like to thank the city of Camden for their support as well as Tom Couch of Public Utilities and the Camden Fire Department. To Longleaf Flowers and Aberdeen Catery, we thank you for helping to make the last evening of the camp special and memorable. And, a huge thank you to all our volunteers. Without you, we could not have managed.
One girl summed up her experience by saying that when she first came to the camp, she was shy, scared, and couldn’t speak. Then, as the camp progressed, she made friends, learned about herself, and became “loud!”
