I wish the city, county or state would get together on painting and gouging our streets. They are painting white lines and gouging the streets in so many ways and places. Some streets are done with the white line and the gouge two feet from the edge of the road. Another street is with the white line and the gouge are on the edge of the road. Some have the white line two feet from the edge and the gouge on the edge. This is in my opinion the best way. Some have the gouge two feet in and the white line on the edge. That is the worst way. When they put the white line and the gouge two feet in from the edge of the road they are wasting 4 feet of material. For every foot down the road we are wasting 8 square feet of material. Nobody is going to use that area, the driver will veer back to the road when he hits the gouge and the bicyclist will not have enough room to ride there. If the bicyclist hits that gouge he will definitely spill.
Check out your street. Around my house Rt. 521 North is right, Rt. 521 South is bad. Flat rock, Lockhart, & Rt. 97 are all bad.
I hope they do the right thing when they finish Boykin Street. I imagine that when they finish Boykin Street it will extend the raceway from Route 521 to Walmart. The speed limit is 45 miles per hour but nobody does that.
