DuPont’s plan May Plant launches experimental waste treatment idea Waste from the production of fibers at the May Plant may eventually be reused as fertilizer if an experimental project being conducted by Clemson University is successful. Dr. Carl Lane, a forestry professor, is in charge of a program in which sludge from the plant’s waste disposal system is sprayed on several forest plots on the plant grounds. The final results of the four-year project won’t be in until the end of the year.
