Six students representing Gloria Kenney’s class at Bethune High School competed recently in the 1988 Kershaw Conservation Speaking Contest. This year’s topic was “Why Forest Conservation is Important.” The students, Tony LeForte, Tammy Sweetenburg, Heather Baker, Shannon McPherson, Stephanie Gardner, and Kim Joyner spoke on a variety of area and national forestry concerns, along with forestry’s relationship to man and the environment.
