Mary Y. Clark, who made history in 1982 by becoming the first woman to serve on Camden City Council, made history again Tuesday by becoming the first woman to be named mayor pro tem. Council member Bratton deLoach, who had held the position for a number of years, nominated Mrs. Clark for the position at the council meeting Tuesday and she was elected by unanimous vote of council.
