(The following information provided by the Concerned Citizens of Kershaw County.)
Everyone needs a safe space to voice concerns on issues important to them. If we are to grow as an informed community, it is essential that there is meaningful dialogue between citizens and city officials to have clarity to problems that impact the lives of Kershaw County citizens. On Thursday, May 9, at 6:30 p.m., the Concerned Citizens of Kershaw County will convene its second Town Hall meeting for citizens, community leaders, elected officials and supporters. As it was in October 2023, the meeting will be held in Liberty Hall at the Revolutionary War Visitors Center, 212 Broad St. in Camden, with WACH-FOX TV anchor/reporter Fraendy Clervaud as the facilitator.
Nine leaders have been invited to bring their experiences and expertise to the meeting. The question and answer session of the meeting has been planned to provide open and honest communication and to create a stronger, a more equitable and supportive place in which to work and to live.
The leaders who will speak are: Kershaw County Sheriff Lee Boan, S.C. Department of Transportation District Construction Engineer Jason Fulmer Kershaw County School District Superintendent Dr. Harrison Goodwin, Camden City Councilman Jeffrey Graham, Kershaw County Chairwoman Katie Guinn, S.C. State Sen. Senator Penry Gustafson (District 27); MUSC Health Midlands Division Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tallulah Holmstrom, United Way of Kershaw County President Donny Supplee, and Kershaw County Administrator Danny Templar. When elected officials, community leaders and citizens work together with other agencies through collaboration and cooperation, problems can be solved. This is what the citizens of Kershaw County deserve.
If you have questions or issues for the leaders, we encourage you to arrive at Liberty Hall by 6 p.m. to sign up to present your concerns. We expect transparency in the conversations and attention to the needs of the community as well as developing an action plan to better serve the people of Kershaw County.
