Richard (“Dickon”) Wingate Lloyd Jr. was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on March 31, 1946. His family moved to Camden, S.C., in 1952. He attended Millbrook School and graduated from Princeton University in 1968. Afterward, he performed alternative service at a hospital in Columbia, S.C. Earning his PhD from the University of South Carolina in 1975 and his MD from the University of Arizona in 1986, he worked as a clinical psychatrist at the VA until his retirement in 1994.

Richard died unexpectedly March 11, 2024, on Amelia Island, Fla. He is predeceased by his parents, Richard Wingate Lloyd and Margaret Hebard Lloyd of Camden, S.C.; and his wife, Dominique Bonnamour. He is survived by his wife Ann Lloyd (née Hell); her daughter, Lily Bailey; sisters, Margaret Keuler (Ralph) of Shoreline, Wash., and Susan Scannell of New Canaan, Conn.; brother O.H. Perry Lloyd (Patricia) of Tiburon, Calif.; nine nieces and nephews; and 18 great-nieces and nephews.
